'BOOP', a beat em up - Dev Blog 01

This is technically the fourth week in development for my beat em up game called 'BOOP' .

Here is a summary of what I have in the past weeks :

  • Player
    • Movement System
    • Four Melee Hit Combo System
    • Dash Mechanic
  • Enemy
    • A simple melee enemy type that chases and hit player when in range
  • Boop Meter System
    • Successful connected hit by the player will increase every characters' (including enemies) knockback power but it will reduce overtime if there is no connected hit after some time, is high risk but provides high reward.

Throughout the weeks, play testers have given me feedbacks regarding the current difficulty of the game being too easy and basic,  here are some of my ideas on what I should change :

  1. More Enemy Variations
    1. add Ranged & Boss Type Enemies that have different attack patterns and sizes
  2. Better Wave System
    1. more frequent and intense enemies' spawn types and spawn rates in the level
  3. Adding Progression!
    1. levels progression will be nice
  4. & many many more?

Welp. That is all for the current state of my game 'BOOP',  more updates will be implemented in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

What kind of game is BOOP?

'BOOP' is a beat em up game where you step into the shoes (or fins) of a Reverse Mermaid that happens to be a boxer that fights Boxing Bears

SUMO! Forget traditional health systems. 'BOOP' brings a fresh twist by simulating a sumo match. Therefore, your primary objective is to push your opponents out of the arena while avoiding getting pushed out yourself in a battle for arena dominance.

CHAOS! However, rather than a single opponent,  you will be battling against multiple Boxing Bears at once, so remember to brace yourself!
